Publication "Competencies of Responsible Leaders in the context of Central and Eastern Europe"

Overall, companies are under pressure to be more responsible and transparent in their behavior and use of resources. Practice of responsible leadership and corporate social responsibility has become an acknowledged necessity in business, adding value both to the companies and their stakeholders.

The idea behind this publication is to approach business leaders as well as business educators (HR managers, business schools, training providers, executive coaches etc.) and provide them a toolkit equipped with the methods, materials, and approaches for developing responsible business leaders and managers.

We hope the publication will become an integration of theory and practice.

The first part of the publication contains the existing body of knowledge of analysis - Global Leaders of Tomorrow project outcomes and insights from the CEE research conducted by CEEMAN Sustainability Working Group. It also provides an article defining "seas" of competences and responsibilities that companies operate in today and the need for systems solutions and complexity management.

The second part is based on the best practices and examples (in-house competence development practices, cases from business schools, teaching cases). We also included the outcomes of the International Conference Developing Responsible Leaders: How to build a Critical Mass of Responsible Leaders and Managers in Central and Eastern Europe, which took place in Lviv, Ukraine. The conference gathered representatives of seven countries from the business community and business schools and became a platform to discuss how to start the change in developing global mindset and an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of business and education.

We are grateful to our partners and sponsors: CEEMAN management development association, The European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), Ashridge Centre for Business and Sustainability, Global Compact Network Ukraine, Metinvest Group, SUN InBev Ukraine, SCM Group, and MTS Company.
